Hello Matt,

There's an unmistakeable garishness of realism about your work. Your subjects, although serving your purpose in your fantastical concoctions, appear to be real. Here, Stephanie is hardly separated from her background as if to say that she is questionably there and she stares at us to say that she's present very definitely! Here eyes are too bright to be ignored and the patina of orange red makes her seem part of some macabre performance by a real actor. Her look to us is confrontational but not hostile.

There are some interesting places in the picture where our gaze is arrested to give more attention. Here full but under-lipsticked lips, the whirl of hair to the upper right and the curve of denim around the black button on her pocket on the lower right. The long sections of hair serves to brings us back around again.

Certainly, Rachel's transformation fits in with you other pictures.

I wonder what she feels about this. not exactly a picture to put on a dating service but one to collect.

For sure this is a good source for discussion when you print it 4 ft high and let folk mill around.

Asher

Hi Asher,

Thanks for your comments, as ever greatly appreciated. I very much enjoyed your terminology 'fantastical concoctions'! I do work very hard on a photography to try and blur the lines between what is real and what is not.

This image has taken about 25 hrs of post processing to complete, and as you will note from the time of posting, was finished quite late last night! After viewing the image again (in daylight) I wasn't completely happy with the underlying orange tones, or indeed the sharpness of the eyes. Therefore I have tones down these element and reduced the intensity of the background to make a better match to the jacket.

Here is the latest version:

Cheers :)

Good job! I wish the earlier picture would reappear!

Asher

I know, I deleted it I'm afraid from my flickr account. I have tried to re-edit the orignal post to include the revised photo (along with reason for editing) however I can't find any options to edit the post. Can you advise?

thanks,

Hi Matt,

In general, there are 2 possibilities. You either post an (any) image with the exact same filename in your original directory location, and the image will re)appear in your original post, or you send a PM to one of the moderators with a new URL of the image, and we'll edit your post at your request so it points to that new URL.

Cheers,
Bart
