Street Buds

Here is a portrait that I took yesterday afternoon on my way home. Some boys were on the street hamming it up and I pulled out my camera to grab shots of them.

Just before leaving, I had them gather together - - - and then I extended my camera overhead, for this shot. I just love the lighting that I can get on the streets of Central America - without any controls or reflectors (look at the "softbox style" highlights in the eyes). As well, I am addicted to Swivel Screens on the backs of my cameras, so that I can - as in this case - raise my camera high and frame accurately - - - or lower it and shoot from the waist.

These kids are all so friendly and full of trust. Did you get a feeling for how religious these communities are and do they tend to be Catholic and is the Church the main community element in their life or is the school?

Hi, Asher,
These kids are all so friendly and full of trust. Did you get a feeling for how religious these communities are and do they tend to be Catholic . . .
I assume you mean Roman Catholic.

Best regards,

Doug

Until recently, a Catholic (more precisely, an Anglo-Catholic, more precisely yet, an Episcopalian)
