symbiotic

I love the opposition of colours. The fluffy green lichen (or moss, I don't know) is a bit surreal. It says something to me like eerie faeries woods. I just regret that I don't see a bit of what is all around, for me the branches a too tight in the frame. Just a matter of taste...But the colours are brilliant.

Are your smileys deactivated? ;)
So, I may seem to be a bit thickheaded sometimes but I have learned to never assume on the web, lol

In general, the second picture is a better composition imo. However, I am a bit distracted by the clutter on the ground/grass area. Perhaps you can crop a tiny bit from the bottom or apply a slight vignette or burning to darken that area?

The 1st one is better re. the details (naturally).

BTW, is this symbiosis or parasitism? I personally haven't got a clue in these matters.

Cheers,

The processing is better for me in the 1st one... I feel it better composed on the 2nd but to me it might be "square" and as said Cem, burnt a bit. My 2 farthings :)

BTW, is this symbiosis or parasitism?

It is not one or the other. Lichenology is a subset of Botanics describing this fungal life style. There are probably around 20,000 species globally. Most lichens are probably to be described as controlled parasitism. However, they are fungi and exist in symbiotic mode with a photosynthetic partner.
