Test of BBCode

This is a test post to see how formatting using the BBCode system can be applied in OPF posts.

I start with forms shown in the OPF app Help as supported:

This should be an example with part of the text in color:

This is red

This should have certain words in the text in various sizes:
This is small and big text.

This should be a "quote":

Go West, young man!

Well, that all seems to work well.

Now to test some things not listed in the OPF app Help as available.

Here we should see a superscript

y=x[sup]2[/sup]

Well, that seems indeed to not be supported.

Here we should see a subscript

x[sub]k[/sub]

This should generate a horizontal line:

[line]

OK, I get the picture.

Of course you can do all that here using the placing the menu above, as in by signature, Asher!

Yes, that is mostly all available via the menu bar.

Why is BBcode limited to color do you think?

In the OPF app BBCode is not limited to color. As to typography, it allows control of typeface, font size, treatment (bold, italics, strike-through, underscore), and color.

Other tags that are supported have to do with linking, placement of images, etc. This is all laid out in a section of the OPF Help (accessible at the bottom of most pages).

Indeed most of that functionality is accessible via the menu bar system.

I'm wondering if it's the XenForo editor that limits BBCode.

For example log[sub]2[/sub] doesn't work in DPReview's XenForo either.

Also doesn't work in DRrevived's Misago editor, FWIW.

It's a pity because you can't go x^(1/2.2) in UniCode as far as I know, whereas in full BBCode you can.
