I had a great session in studio yesterday with these two. We started out doing things she was happy to show her dad, who paid for my services. They were so fun to work with. We ended up doing tasteful topless and belly images where she was wrapped in a stretch knit fabric where you could see through to her "bump". We closed with a photo of Dad to be with his credit cards spread out before him, pockets pulled out and empty.....I am off to attend a wedding so can't upload more today...

What a happy moment!

Kathy,

when you started off here, you were mainly doing business consulting and tax advice and preparation. Now there's that but a fully fledge studio! We're so proud of you. When we started I said "No!" to cat pictures for that symbolized the pointless collection of lenses which were characterize by the next "cat" picture. Well, I never thought of Mary Bull and how we'd come to make a place for pets. We've come a long way since then and your life, I'm sure is much richer for it.

Here you have a very close up picture of the two of them and this gives a very dynamic 3D effect, which does go with the growing "bump" and the hustle and bustle of adding a child to one's home! The picture works very well but I'd have chosen a less extreme position to take the picture. Just my own style.

Hi Kathy,

I fully agree with Asher. Job well done. And you did deserve to have a really nice session after that unfortunate wedding the last time. What I think would work better for this pose is to crop it horizontal rather than vertical Other than that, great :)

I like the idea of a hoirtzontal crop. I will try that...this was straight out of camera. No PS - no levels, curves or sharpening....shot in raw and processes in DPP....

Asher, when I signed up for OPF, the last time I'd seen the inside of a studio was when I took my high school senior pictures....over 30 years prior. I've been serious about photography since 2001 but only started the studio lighting about a year ago taking my first class in Feb 2007.

Hi Kathy,

The first portrait is very well done. As Cem mentioned, I would like to see a horizontal crop on this
one and a bit closer up to give a feeling of more intimacy.

re: the other portraits, I somehow feel they invade the privacy of something wonderful to be shared
between the couple only. While we rejoice for them and wish them well, the very private portraits
imho, should remain 'private' for them to cherish.

Just my humble opinion. But this might be a cultural thing.

Thank you for looking - Yes, perhaps it is cultural - this is quite popular here in style. I have other shots that I will not share publically because they are very private, although I did mention them above. But these show no more skin than if she were in a swimsuit. Of course, in California, we are a bit progressive in our stance of what is acceptable compared with other cultures. I appreciate you comment.

kathy, some of my best student days were spent in california! We had our honeymoon in California, but
I shall not say when :)
