Jarmo,

Here is a man with purpose to serve. He could be bringing food in an hotel for room service. However, those wheels are to big for a food trolley. He could be using the device as a walker, but then it would not be his last ride. So it's the foreshortened view of a gurney/trolley for a hearse. This is most unusual. The picture is remarkable for it's pastoral but urban and urbane qualities. Well done!

Thank you Asher, I'm very pleased to read your comment!

Jarmo,

I've never seen a picture like this with so much representation of much of our lives, dedicated to serving and being served and the inevitable sequence of things. If you have other ideas for this, it would be amazing! I like to wonder what might follow when I see a girl in a killer dress, what she might wear tomorrow. So here I muse at to what other images you might make or discover that could follow this one.

Jarmo,

I thought - then not - but hey - is this made in a cemetery? Looks like a barrow for coffins to me. But no stones in sight - so you have taken me on a ride....

.. i am not interested if this is or not what has gone on - for me it was always the case...

on a side note - i looked down on your country from a above in google - the number of locks are mental ... thanks for the ride...

Hi Mark, no, you're right. It was shot in a cemetery and this fellow's occupation.. well, you already know.

Here are some stones and life in the same place:

Thanks Asher, a very valid point indeed. In a way we are consumers to the very end. In that sense I find this valid:

Jarmo,

Delightful, interesting and humorous. :)

This picture has a lot going for it. Light and life, fecundity and being transient here, just passing through. Hmmm, this rabbit could be carrying that lantern! We could write long essays on its meaning!

Jarmo, I love these. The first one especially since it's very unique and I've never seen anything like before. I have a whole series I did in a cemetery, not anything religious with angels or statues of God, but more as the idea of the last ride, (your title final ride surprised me because of it) and more of a romantic view, as that is my propensity (some abhor it, but can't help who I am, can I? ) with thoughts of the circle of life, what lies beyond, and how it is something that joins us all in our final destination. I hope you will share more. :)

Thanks Maggie! I also think cemeteries make a great setting for photography. The end stop of our material existence is the most natural environment to study life, don't you think? And there's absolutely nothing wrong in seeing the romantic aspect of things, Maggie. How about you post some your work on the subject? Would love to see them.

Jarmo, I hope you like these, they are some of my faves.

the fog here, was like a heavy veil

This one I care for because it, to me, signifies the circle of life. The young sapling speaks of rebirth.

I like how these branches and leaves seem to caress the tombstones

This one depicts the little houses they have at the graveyard in places where the ground is too frozen in the winter and they store the deceased until the spring. You can see the lines in the road where their last ride was taken.

It is always very quiet at the cemetery, all you hear is the rustle of leaves.

I have many more and have done a video of some of them, if you are interested, the video is not my best, I was just learning to do them but it looks okay:

Thank you Maggie, I do like them! I noticed that you've used a lot of highlights and that makes your pictures very easy to look at. Some viewers might find this a problem but I don't. No reason why cemeteries should only be used as a gloomy setting.

Yes, Jarmo, I suspect most won't like them, but my photos reflect who I am and what appeals to me. I cannot help what others may think. I'm glad you don't find them a problem.
