I hate saying Wow! But this is indeed a calming scene. Please, one bird? One leaf in the air, but I always ask for more!

Think about it, Dwayne, one can't follow temptations or fancies in many parts of life without penalties or everyone would walk off with the gold, drive home Porches and there would be simply no point owning Rolex! However, what would be so bad giving in once in a while and combining two of your photographs to add the missing leaf, bird or figure? After all, had you been there an hour longer, all these things would have come by?

Do we say to the cook, only boil the potatoes, one at a time. Put none of that roast duck on the plate, I want everything pure.

So would you ever add something to your picture that wasn't there yet or would never be there?

Nice picture - I especialy like the toning in this.

I don't need a bird (Heron?) winging through, and Asher knows I wouldn't add it:) (not least because you'd be able to see the join!), but that is up to your discretion.

Cheers

Dwayne I haven't commented on your other work partly because it hasn't been my cup of tea. That's not a criticism as I can recognise how well executed it is, but the treatments you sometimes give your pictures don't resonate with me personally. We all have our own taste and viewpoint...

...however this completely blows me away and is exceptional and stunning and I have run out of superlatives (I guess you can see that I like simplicity and minimalism on the whole :) )

For me, a good picture is often 'less is more' so I shy away from work that has a lot of digital PP unless it is done so subtley that it fools me :) and I think the scene is as nature intended

Awesome views and opinions on this forum ! I like how everyones is different (subjective) that
is the beauty of art/photography there is not right or wrong. Also thank you very much for the
comments everyone on this image !

Great topic Asher ! I never say never because I always eat my words. Just 3 years ago I was
shooting purest style straight out of the camera jpeg photos with zero pp editing at all. I also
shot that way for 15 years using (slide film) in my 20's. But in our journey in this craft it takes
alot of twists and turns as we keep aiming for the master level.

Right now I am content with U-point technology and not using layer mask to add a subject that
was not there. In my opinion I am at the level in my work at "chasing down the light" in pp.
I "see" it now. Where the light is falling everywhere in the scene. This is a new found
level for me and I want to explore it.

In my opinion there are no rules in art (except journalism) and there is nothing wrong with
adding a subject to a photo that was not there. Providing you let the viewers know it was
staged. Peoples careers have been ruined because of misperception.

I think it is something special Asher when that bird finally does fly through the scene and you
get the shot, as opposed to just PS the bird in. Those are special days indeed and will happen.
That is the carrot that makes you want to go back for more.

Take care,
Dwayne Oakes
