Meet my best mate, Dominic.

He's an embarassment really, with his point and press, snapping away at tourist stuff without any respect for aperture, shutter speed and focal length. Everything on auto. What do we do about such people? He even stands in front of me to get the shot.

Still, he does serve some purpose. He likes to get in the shot so I use him to my advantage. He becomes the human element when needed (and when not I might add), even proviiding the ripple I so desperately wanted.

Occasionally I'll catch him doing something criminal or at least indiscrete. He's from Manchester. You have to forgive him for his indiscretions. MAnchurians are not renoun for their ethical behaviour.

But I do love him. When he's quiet.

Excellent narration Tom, it is good to have a talented storyteller like you among us. Dominic is immediately likable, partially thanks to you for positioning him in a sidekick/underdog role. But perhaps he is the photographer and you are his apprentice. I bet he teaches you indirectly every time.

Great photos and introduction, Tom. I think we all have our own Dominic, in my case he's the neighbor who is a bottomless source of advice as well as an apparent black hole for borrowed tools.

Great story, though why is he taking a photo of a wall, has he got a customer lined up for it?

Though the first photo made me smile.

Who knows why he does what he does, Helene. I'm never game enough to ask. I suspect he just took a photo over the wall and was looking at the results. What he was shooting is best left unviewed by innocent parties.

I must admit, though, he does a great modeling job. He does exactly as I say, especially if I promise him a beer at the end of the day.

This is him heading for the pub.
