Nicely composed photo with a peaceful mood, Wendy. I see the reader is wearing what appear to be earphones, so he may have had some music going at the same time. I imagine your presence went unnoticed by the reader.

Tom-

Thanks for looking. I don't believe I was noticed at all!

Wendy,

I feel that B&W is good choice for the picture. He ignores the color around him. He's shut off from everything, except perhaps temperature of the air on his skin.

He's so into the book and music! I wonder whether he pays sufficient attention to either. If any of the two suffer, likely it's the music. He shuts out the rest of the world, even the sound of the wind or leaves. He perhaps wouldn't notice that everyone else has gone home, or never arrived!

Hello Wendy, this photo evidences a curious thing about people: when we need to disconnect from our surroundings and just dive into our own universe, nothing like a big-wide-open-public-space!

Hi Wendy,
I love the haphazard scattering of chairs surround the subject.
To me, somehow it adds to his detachment with everything around him.
Great choice to go B&W - well done!

Hi Wendy

A nice image in a great tradition - have you a copy of On Reading by Andre Kertersz? Recently reissued and a lovely little book that rewards time.
