The reputation point system

Drew Strickland is in the throes of establishing a "reputation points" system on the ProPhoto Home forums .

Evidently, this is intended to give contributors a coefficient of credibility, or potency, or sucking power, or something. (No, this is not from Drew Carey, who had a different outlook on points on "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?".)

I think a reputation rating system for photographers is a great idea. Just think how better off John Edwards could have been in the face of such protection.

It's not yet clear if one gets docked points for making sign errors in the expansion of trigonometric identities.

At it's essence, the idea seems good. In practice, calibration of rankings becomes more complex. You have to rate the rating points.

I have been contemplating such a system for ranking pictures where we'd have to give some photographers opinions more weight as we know more about their work and judgement. As of yet, I've not devised a system that is both rational and fair! Anyone who's help me with this, I'd love to hear from!

A prize for anyone who can come up with a workable plan we'd respect and value.

I've always been against any ranking system.
I don't whish to be ranked
I don't need to rank others
I don't need to read a ranking of one by the others

I'm here to share (back and forth). No competition!
I'm "adult" enough to "juge" by myself the quality of answers / replies. For this, real names is a real plus.

C'mon, we're not at school anymore! (BTW they are schools without ranking…)
