Dwayne,

From the tree trunk onwards I am getting more used to you photographing specific subjects, still, your ability to incorporate textured landscape backgrounds, your wonderful hallmark is still found here. This iridescant beetle is now shown on a sienna wooden surface that contrasts well and provides added interest. Thanks for sharing!

Nice image and approach, but I think the shot would have more impact with a crop of say an 8x10 ratio or 1:1, maybe?

Nice image Dwayne! It's that time of season the the bugs are emerging and becoming active.
I like the shadow that the beetle has made here but like Paul would love to be a bit closer to see more detail and that shadow he casts would bring more to the image for me.

rather than a tighter crop.. i'd try to even the lighting in the lower left corner. with the bark more even in tone, there would be more of a sense of isolation of the beetle in the upper right
