Hey all,
I'm new to the forum, but have enjoyed reading the posts enough to join. I come to photography via journalism. When I was almost finished with my first college degree many years ago I took a photojournalism class more as a lark than anything else. I fell in love with both journalism and photography. I started taking night classes in photography while working as a reporter by day. Eventually I was shooting, writing and designing my section of the small paper I worked for. When life took me to Rochester NY. I decided to take a chance and enrolled at Rochester Institute of Technology. I ended up with a flex degree that combined graphic design, photography and printing.
Deciding I couldn't get any poorer than a student just coming out of school I took another gamble and applied for the graduate studies program at the University of Missouri, Columbia journalism program - photoj natch. Made it. Still poor, but loving life.
Since then I've worked primarily in editing and it wasn't until I moved to the beautiful back of beyond - also known as the Ozarks - that I picked my camera back up. I have a small show up in Eureka Springs and continue to shoot and work on my craft. The next step is selling my work and I've been doing the legwork necessary to make that next gamble.
