Hi Asher, I didn't do anything special. Manual focus at the closest possible range, f:2,8 and a slight graduated filter in LR. Thanks for commenting!

Did you take other pictures in which the posterior wings were sharp? I wondered as one might then be able to stack them.

I did but this is how I wanted it to look, a sort of a play with the shallow dof.

Well, Jarmo, I just wanted to ask. I'm into the technical challenge of building things like that! I did suspect that this was how it is meant to be. For me, the challenge would be to get the camera, mount the right lens and have the fellow wait patiently for me to arrive and not just buzz off!

Do you know what type of fly that is?

Heehee, I don't think the other pictures I took would be much good for stacking. You see, I had to balance on one foot and use the other to keep the kids away from the picture. They were very interested to take a closer look, as well. I don't know basically anything about dragons, but he/she might be a Cordulia aenea (hooray Google!).
