Hello,

here are two picture of still life photography i have tried.

*lighting: 25-30cm fluorescent light placed up-front.
*fish tank (well cleaned)...filled with water of course.
*white background.
*the tank was inside a refrigerator with white walls.
*a reflector underneath the tank.

the first picture is a little large for this page...so you may want to click on it for a larger view :)

Model: NIKON D200

These are actually quite nice Husain, thanks for sharing.

I am amazed that you could capture the second one at 1/60s and f/4. It came out quite well.

The first one I am less enthusiastic about. The general crop doesn't feel right but I don't know how you can improve that. Also, it would have been a bit better if the portion of the orange above the water level would have been larger (end nitpick mode ;-)). Why did you use a fridge, BTW? A a surrogate light tent/dome?

Cheers,

Hello, Cem,

thanx for the feedback:)

for the fridge part..
it was 3am and i was in the mood of taking pictures...and didnt have a tent by that time. So i came up with this idea...since the walls of the fridge were white...and well-reflected :)

cheers

Hi Husain,

That's the spirit ! Whatever tickles (y)our creativity..., well done.

Bart

P.S. I favor the 2nd (cropped) image, much more 'dramatic/mysterious'...

Most inventive Husain. The 1/20 sec made me think you had a Rangefinder Camera, then I see you were smart to use a tripod. Super-orgainized and imaginative setup. I'd get rid of the label on the orange. Also if you go for a higher speed, the effect will be even more impressive.

Good job! I hope you will refine this as it dynamic and has great colour. Now that you have a basic system, work it! Is that your plan or is this a one off? I'd love to see you work with this and see where it can go.

Husain, the second capture is really nice. I would not remove the label on the orange..just send
it to the company ( smallest version ) and see if they can use it in an ad?

Well done.
