An interesting play on my mind - just like the last image with the subject matter in the doorway. Is that a photograph or are people walking behind a window. The man in the Behind, looking out to see what the man in the doorway is doing. Your black and white tonality is very nice. I like your photo.

Cem,

I believe this is a photograph taken at an exhibition of photography. There's a slight shadow under the lower edge of the inserted B&W image of what appear to be either peasants in, Eastern Europe, refugees or a scene perhaps in rural Turkey, even a refugee camp of displaced Syrians.

The sign at the bottom right says "Exhibit begins" (in 3 languages).

From the clothing and facial hair style, this is an old photo or a recreation of historical settings. Since the top left signs reads "Hefvermogen 1500 Kilos", either the Netherlands or the northern part of Belgium.

Very well seen Jerome. This is a century old photo indeed and it shows Belgian refugees boarding a ship to emigrate to the new world. The boat refugees of another era! I didn't want to title the photo as such or mention it because it would immediately change the way people look at this photo. Instead of being a photo to be appreciated, it would become a political news item. This is exactly why I keep on saying that a photo should speak for itself.

The trompe l'ceil nature of your photograph is that, on first glance it does appear as if we are in the present and right now observing in real time, some tragic migration of un-privileged folk with little means. So, despite a desire on your part to be apolitical, this does have a strong political depth to it, in that it asks us to consider the plight of migrants.

There is of course no need to create a title, such as "The Migrants" as we can see that! This, after all, much alike a mother nursing her infant or a fellow on fire with naplam in Viet Nam, hardly needs a title. So as I have always maintained, such riveting classic subjects are self-evident and do not need captions!

Very well done. In fact, more than that, this is both exceptional and timely. At this time there are about 4 million who are currently migrating and another 3-4 million in Syria who would likely move if they had the means and the hope of better futures.
