I've always loved portraits, and today, the lighting was right, the kids at school were all in interesting moods, and my trusty old D70 was swinging eagerly at my side, brought back to life while my D7000 is away at the Nikon Spa.

So, I walked up to my friends and started clicking:

Daniel Sawyer Schaefer: Asal, the enchanting young israeli with a stunning sense of style.

Daniel Sawyer Schaefer: Matty, the politico heretic who always has something to say.

Daniel Sawyer Schaefer: Julia, the boisterous Ruskie with mischief on her mind, and Vodka on her breath.

Daniel Sawyer Schaefer: Charles Ray, a larger than life ladies man with enough love to go around.

An interesting bunch of mugs if I do say so myself! If intrigued, the rest of the set is here Comments? Critiques? Anything is much appreciated

Cheers!

Daniel, a belated welcome to OPF.

You have started well. Having friends that don't mind being photographed. Now you have here
all the tools you need to improve your craft.

Take pictures. Take pictures. Take pictures.
Show them to your friends. Ask them which ones they like of themselves. Study why.

Request them to allow you to photograph them in different light, different circumstances. Playing,
studying, angry, happy etc.

See which they like, see which you like. Importantly ask why?

Then envision how you want to take their photos. Where, when; in what mood etc.

You are well on your way. Gain the confidence. Choose the best photos. Ask someone you know
in your local club..maybe a pro.

Good luck and welcome on board.

Daniel,

Once again I'm impressed. Your work is very direct and engaging. It's a very personal experience we're getting.

I like #3. A little pp improves it some. As soon as I saw it I thought it perfect for Portrait Pro, and sure enough, just at default settings, it pops.
