Upper Eskdale, The Lake District

Hi,

Just thought I would share a few from last weekend in The Lake District.

It had been a long days walk in great scenery, and we were further rewarded towards the end when the evening sun lit up our route ahead.

Upper Eskdale is a place to take those who say the Lakes are getting too busy - a valley of solitude and calm amongst the drama of the rocky peaks above.

Hi Andy,

Beautiful images. Upper Eskdale, and the great Moss in particular, and in particular again a certain comfortable rock at the base of Cam Spout, is my favourite place in the Lakes, probably in the whole world. It's somewhere to sit and listen to the sound of wind and falling water and forget everything else.
Unfortunately, for one reason or another, I didn't make it up there when I stayed in Eskdale in September, so thanks for posting.

Regards,

Stuart

These are all beautiful Andrew, lovely light and gentle Autumn colours , I particularly like No's 1 & 2, I'll remember about Upper Eskdale being quiet for the next time we go.....

Thanks for the comments.

Stuart - I wish I'd found your comfy rock - By the time we'd clambered down from Mickledore I was weary enough to be happy enough flopping down on the grass for 15 minutes!

Janet - It's definitely worth a visit. Bit of a walk in from wherever you start, but it's this fact that makes it so quite and beautiful.

What is it with the Lake District? Is it watered with Kodachrome juice or something? I have never seen a photo taken there that I didn't like and never pass up an opportunity to view one.

Thanks for sharing.
