Oasis: Chris Calohan

The "Oasis" title means what? The site is neglected in a well kept neighborhood or else it's a respite from the painful sights of a neglected urban wasteland?

I'd just say that the owners are pretty trusting to leave the ladder for anyone to take. Moreover the high wall is so pristine and without any evidence of stucco missing or even cracks. Even the paint is rich as if had been painted recently.

So tell us more about the "Urban Blight" you are documenting.

It's a great project, but to me this picture, as a start, needs siblings to explain it!

You could point to the weeds at the edge of the wall, but even with a gardener, such hardy invaders can escape notice for a month or two!

Well, Asher, for one, the ladder is neatly chained to the palm. Under the ladder, next to the pristine wall are leftover building supplies, grass growing up through the cracks, and exposed wiring attached to a not so neat wall housing a partially covered window.

The only saving grace to the area is the poor concrete surrounded palm and the two potted plants. It is an oasis, a brief respite from yards of decaying concrete, peeling paint and old, neglected furniture.

There are four shots in this series: Oasis, 320, Warning and Power Struggle, all shot in an area with a radius of about 100 feet.
