Well, would you believe 1 mph?

This doesn't qualify as art, but I did want to share my first ever panning shot.

One of the "rites of passage" for any farm kid is to learn how to drive the equipment on the old homestead and my boys are no different. As I was snapping shots of the boys and their grampa for the photo album, I decided to speed the old girl up a couple notches.

<chuckle> I discovered its much easier making something that is fast look fast. Next time I bring a tripod :)

Thanks for looking...

Rod,

It does look like it's speeding! So do you also have wider shots! With my first experience, I did very well by myself until I came back towards the trailer where the rest of the folks were waiting and realized I had no idea how to stop the thing! That's what grandfathers are there for!

Yep, here is the original (resized but not cropped):

When I come back to it on the second day, I realize just how many mistakes I made with that shot. Yesterday was very overcast, so the colors, while likely accurate for the day, aren't pleasing, and I see I blew out my kiddo's face. Could probably use a little sharpening too...

This is more impressive, for sure. It provides an agreeable context and although we are not looking down from heaven, we are, in a way, blessing this event from this point of view.
