I am very glad to see you again Michael, you have been missed.
These photos made me a bit nostalgic since I used to visit a local fun fair to see a similar act when I was a small child.

I went to see such a spectacle at the local fair once when I was young. It was so thrilling to watch. I'll bet it would be a challenge to photograph. Well done.

I love the ones with him on the bike with his hands up in the air. So commanding and impressive. I also love that he's dressed in a white shirt and slacks and not in some spandex costume - it makes this image so timeless!

Hi Robert,

Thanks. It is not that difficult - when you have sufficient DoF, you can pre-focus and concentrate on the right moment.
Needs higher ISO as it is not that bright inside the tent.

Best regards,
Michael

Hi Maggie,

Thanks. This is one of the oldest touring Death Walls I am aware of. The business exists since 1928.
It is not the first time I saw them. Spandex costume? *Shudder* Never saw that here.

Some time ago I saw them driving this small car on the wall (I drove such a car on an occasion long time ago - interesting...).
They probably stopped using it because it was too dangerous...

Best regards,
Michael

The challenge is not so much to focus on the whizzing bike, just how on earth does the rider get to be horizontal. Is there some ramp to enter the ring?

Hi, Asher,

The challenge is not so much to focus on the whizzing bike, just how on earth does the rider get to be horizontal. Is there some ramp to enter the ring?

I assume it is essentially the opposite of how they get off, the skid marks from which can be seen at the bottom of the far wall.

Best regards,

Doug
