On the second one, try a 16:9 crop with the horizon line on the top third line. I think it allows the oof foreground to not be so dominating.

Andy,

I support Chris' feelings of the foregrounds but have this issue with both pictures.

If I need to consider this issue with my own pictures then I try a horizontal while line to sparate the top 2/3 and bottom 1/3 or so. that way one see both the whole and the sparate regions and it makes an interesting diptych for each single picture.

These are all very interesting and wonderfully lit. Also, they are so subtly processed that I want to give a big thumbs up to that. Many of the photos I am looking at today are way over sharpened and over processed. This is a delight to look at. And the lighting is great. I feel the beach!
