Wasdale

A couple of panoramas from last week.

The Wastwater Screes. The shattered crags fall 1000ft into the lake, which at their foot has a depth of over 250ft.

The head of Wasdale. The shot that everyone takes, but unfortunately too breezy for the classic reflections.
8 portrait images stitched with PTGui. 350D, 70-200 f/4 L IS @ 70mm, f11

Hi Stuart

I've looked at these a few times now, and you have really made me want to go back to the Lakes asap! Looks like you had wonderful weather, it always seems to rain incessantly when we go!

I've never used PTGui to stitch it seems to have done a very good job, I prefer the second of the two you've shown here, I like the people in the foreground and the road meandering up the hillside. It's our anniversary soon, Paul's asked me if I'd like to go away for a weekend, it might have to be the Lakes! Thank you for sharing these.

Hi Jan,

Yes, the weather was beautiful, the second time this year I've been lucky in that respect, and a great opportunity to spend a week with my daughter before she goes off to live in New Zealand.

It's difficult to capture the sense of presence of the Screes. To appreciate it fully you need to take the sketchy path which crosses them just above the water level. It's an interesting walk, scrambling over and round boulders the size of cars with 1000ft of loose rock on one side and 250ft of cold water on the other :)

Regards,

Stuart

Hopefully we'll be seeing shots of New Zealand from you in due course! a place I have always wanted to visit.

Interesting I'm sure! I still have a sore knee and sore foot from Malham weekend before last, I think I'll pass on scrambling over the boulder screes for a while. Glad you had a good time with your daughter.....
