Fahim, I know no one's life is without ups and downs, without sorrows and disappointment. But, I have to say, the "picture" you paint with your photographs makes the life you and Ayesha share seem idyllic. Thank you, for that. Oftentimes, I get a vicarious respite and mental renewal from my fantasy-interpretation of your days together.

Hi Rachel.

Yes mam, you are so right. Ups and downs. I had a down day today. Very down. Took Ayesha down with me.

We sat quietly thru the Spain vs Portugal football match. Looked at eachother. Went out to Pizza Hut. She had a bright idea! She said forget Jordan etc. with the grandchildren. Let's save some money and go shark-caging in South Africa.!!

We picked ourselves up. Made some plans. At least forgot the ' downs '.

One has to pick oneself up, Rachel. Life is too short for being down. Maybe we wont see any sharks. But at least we tried to put our problems away together.

Maybe this shall cheer you up...

Tomorrow the issues might not be as big as we thought. They never are.

Hope the sun shines for you always. Nice sun..not 50C!!

Well said Rachel, I couldn't agree more.

Fahim , you are obviously an individual of means, someone who has accumulated a degree of wealth that permits your indulgences in the joy of travel.
I also suspect you worked very hard in your life for what you have, with nothing being handed to you.

What I respect most about you is your ability to share with us all your adventures and journeys without any boasting, ego, attitude or air of self-importance.
That truly is the hallmark of a fine gentleman.

Good morning John....

You are mistaken my friend. I am rich...yes. But not in terms of money. But the friends that I have.
When we couldn,t afford a house, my friends helped us out. When we have problems, my family and friends are there for me.

Thank you for your gracious and kind words. I am honored.

Be Well.

Well, by the Fahim's definition, I am equally rich, and my OPF family contributes to that

I'm a fortunate woman in many ways. Even my illness brings blessings with it. I've often thought that if Parkinson's had not slowed me down, I'd still be working too many hours, refining lectures or reading another journal instead of going bowling with my children (yes! I take my children bowling!), likely would never have picked up a camera, begun writing a novel, or taken a role in community theatre.

Life has it's ups and downs for everyone. The Greek philosopher, Heraclitus said (forgive my faulty interpretation) that life is on a continuum, and we must know one end of continuum in order to understand the other. We must know cold to understand hot, sickness to understand health, sadness to understand happiness. Even the "downs:" have an "upside" (sorry, couldn't resist) in that without them, there would be no "ups,"

Boiling it down further, up itself, is just a metaphor for "towards heaven". The latter is just a metaphor for "the mystery after death and before life".
