Hi:
I'm just starting out on Open Photography Forums, but I see a large number of familiar names.
My interests in photography started some 60 years ago with an Anscochrome twin lens reflex. 10 years later I got a Leica iif and a Weston Master 4 meter, and I became solidly hooked.
I tried digital when the Coolpix 900 came out. Three generations of that camera led to a D60, and about 3 years ago, to a 1DMkII. I had always done photography as a hobby but now have aspirations in doing it as fine art.
I've been a music composer and professor, and brought some of the same understanding of form and aesthetics to photography. My shooting interests include, not necessarily in this order:
City scenes and landscapes, street photography, birds & nature, and abstract work. I bring an interest from an area of electronic music known as Musique Concret, where natural sounds are recorded and then altered electronically to my imaging, where a "real" photograph serves as the material for digital manipulation into abstract art that only somewhat echoes the original image.
I've been working in the mental health field and am soon going to retire, and hope to devote my time to producing, exhibiting and hopefully selling, my prints.
Anyway, I'm hopeful about the philosophy and orientation of this forum. I also have lots of technical and practical questions to ask here, but I also like to jump in and help somebody else out when I can answer their questions. I also plan to be much briefer in subsequent posts.
Thanks all....
