Hi,

Asher wrote in a comment to a photo, how interesting it would be, to show and see photos from the place/region we live.

Some days ago this idea dripped again in my mind and I try to start here a showcase for photos of your surroundings, your neighborhood, maybe your gardens ... what ever you think may be interesting ...

I'll start with a somewhat "special" photo:
In 2008 our church was renovated and I was asked to make the photos around these days of hard and interesting work. So I had the rare possibility to get in touch with very specialised handcrafts and to get high above our small village.

And this the view on a part of it. You see quite well the area I live in here in Vorarlberg.
Yes and indeed, the house we live in is on the photo, too. It is the one on the left side of the steepletop, at the end of the small road ... :))

I hope, more photos will follow, feel free to contribute!

What a lovely view of your charming town, from such a special vantage point.

As to your house, I am jealous that you are just at the start of the mountain, a setting I have always loved.

Actually, we are not too far from that situation where we are now (a factor in our choice of location). The mountains (the Sacramento range) turn up seriously about 0.5 miles to our east, and in fact starting about 0.25 miles to our east is the start of a national forest.

I'll try and post some shots of our area as soon as I can.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Doug

Hi Doug

thanks for your visit, let's see how many will join ... :)
I admit frankly, that we live in a very extraordinary place :) with a great view over the valley of the river Rhein southwards to the Alps, where the range is called "Raetikon". Our region is an old crossroad for ancient traderoutes from south to north.

This one, e.g. was shot from our sleepingroomwindow ...

HI,

so I'm the lonely ranger here ... :)

We often have here the phenomen of a strong wind falling down from the Alps called "Foehn" which brings with it storm and warmth and: odd clouds and sky-sceneries like this one yesterday morning

Wolfgang,

Your location is so picturesque! It's hard for most to compete. Wouldn't it be better if we had a prefix with this topic so folk can have their own thread? We could do that! Otherwise a picture of some steers in a field in Texas or a group of nudists on a Nothern Territory beach in Australia will break up your beautiful series and be so distracting!

You are doing such a great job!

I will set up the prefix for this topic!

Hi Wolfgang,

Fine, Cem, thank you!
Feel free to contribute your own surroundings!
I didn't want to you to be odd one out, so here's one from me. :)
This is one of the typical streets in the historical town where we live. The average age of the houses you see is about 350 years old. Our own street is somewhat similar to this one but I couldn't find a suitable photo to share yet.

Hi, Wolfgang,
Hi,

here we say: if the morning is red, the weather will be bad (that's my translation :) )

Yes. An old English maxim goes:

"Red sky at morning, sailor take warning".

And its complement:

"Red sky at night, sailor's delight."

(The rhyme of "warning" with "morning" is a bit of a stretch!)

A lovely shot.

Best regards,

Doug
