-eyes are soft (AA filter ?)
tweak
-added a tad of selective color desaturation to just the nose area of the dear to get rid
of the blue color cast
-adde a tad of selective USM (sharpening) to just the eyes of the dear
to get over the AA filter

You are right, I think about your general comments and the sharpness of the eyes. We like to think the fellow is really fully awake and ready to dart off! The color of light is another matter. That shift might have a reason for being there and with the big shadow seems fine to me as an extra flair.

This is "Lester" he is a resident of the neighborhood. He was in my yard so I quickly grabbed the camera and snappedthe shot - most of you know we live in the mountains - animals are never far away.
As for the color, the whitetail are really red right now and my yard is really green. The blue on the nose is the lack of hair on his nose. It is almost black skin. I don't think it is WB - but it could be. The nose is sharp - so the eyes would be a little off due to the f stop setting - the light is weird in the evenings, we live in thick timber and little streams of light poke through and give that million dollar light - I just wish he had moved about a foot or camera right..
You'll see much more of Lester... as he grows and rubs his velvet..
