Zinnia: UV Induced Visible Fluorescence using Nichia UV LEDs

Well, some people wonder what could be done with Nichia based flashlights / torches which use the single dice NCSU033A (older) or NCSU033B (newer) chips.

Well, here is my example without much ado...

I hope that serves as an example what could be done with those UV flashlights, but of course those are useful for many different applications such as stimulating visible fluorescence, reflected UV photography, forensic, dermatological and dental examinations and photographic recording, curing of UV glue / bonding, as well as leakage detection etc.

... or simply just pretty pictures ;-)

Brilliant! But please give some technical details; what UV excitation wavelengths, what barrier filters, what chemical species are flourescing, and so on? Years ago I was involved in pioneering aspects of fluorescence microscopy of biological specimens and subject remains truly fascinating.
