Hall Of Justice, Night shot

This was from across the river, the water was flowing fairly smoothly so I had to try this shot.
the moon was a day past full so I think it still worked out.

Is there anything I should do differently?

Hi Cody, if it were my shot, I would reduce the brightness of the grass and perhaps kill what appears to be a low headlight in the bottom right hand corner of the picture.

For the grass, I would just use a luminosity mask to target the bright grass and manually blank out other bright areas on the mask. You can then use multiply mode.

You might wish to use several multiply layers. When I experimented on your photo, I found that the result was more pleasing because the grass wasn't so bright. Our eyes are attracted to bright objects and bright contrasts. The bright grass is both.

My comments are minor refinements though. You've created a great picture of a building. :)

I didn't fix the headlights in the lower right of the picture.

Is there anything I should do differently?

It looks fine, although it's easier to get a bit lower contrast when one shoots in twi-light. It is also an option to sandwich a very long exposure (for even more prominent startrails) and an exposure for the floodlit building. It's nice to try some different approaches and see what you like best.

Cheers,
Bart

Cody,

A question - what is the "Hall of Justice"? I am not from around your parts?

In relation to the image - the foreground refection is cut off - could it have been all in there?.
Other than that is seems to me to be a good record of the image of a building at night.

Are there more exposures?

According to Wikipedia:
A Hall of Justice is an occasional term for a city's police headquarters, and exists in cities across the United States. In some cases, the facility may also house courts as well as jails.

No that is the best copy I have of this, the rest have Stumps and a sand bar in the reflection.

The notation is especially common in California, USA
