In Perspective, Fun: Early police photography

Hi, I just came across that site that display early police ID portraits (Mugshots they seem to be called) that seems more artistic photos than:

Hi, Sandrine,

"Mug shots" was in fact a common US term (less heard today except in a comedic context).

Were these from the Sydney (NSW) Justice & Police Museum collection?

(Perhaps then this should have the NSW prefix to the subject line.)

I note that the height scale was in feet. The dates are written in what was at the time (and still is) the Hungarian format (yy.mm.dd), now of course the accepted international standard for presenting dates in numeric form. (The period as a separator is not preferred, but is in fact what we use here.) I don't know if that was in use in Australia at the time.

Thanks for these great shots. I am impressed by how stylish most of the subjects seem!

Best regards,

Doug

Have you seen the mugshots of some of the modern day bankers ...?

Or, as the Dutch minister of defense told today as he explained why he will have to cut back some 14% of military personnel, bankers are our biggest enemy.

Cheers,
Bart

one of my favorite is Mr Moody (what a name!)
