How Would You Edit this White on White Image

I was shooting down at a rookery a little ways south of Myrtle Beach last May, and arrived early to get some flight shots. The weather didn't cooperate, with pretty foggy/cloudy conditions. There are typically many Great Egrets, and as they are all white, this presented a problem.

Here is the basic image, which kind of appeals to me, but I thought it would be fun to get some different takes on editing and presenting this image.

First, Don,

This is so enjoyable, as it is, a page from Audubon's giant hand drawn portfolios, graceful, elegant and fine, that it seems sacrilege to even contemplate any change. Is this the unaltered, out of the camera picture?

Thanks for the kind words, Asher. This was shot as a Raw file, so there are always a few tweaks to color balance, exposure, and tonality when processing to Jpeg, but this pretty much the original shot (also with a small crop for better composition).

It just seems like an image where more a artistically creative approach might produce some interesting results, which is why I posted it as a challenge.

Here are three that I did the overlay work on. I do like all of them kind of brings your photo out a bit. What do you think? I tried not to take away but to add a bit more interest.

Very nice, Charlotte. All 3 are appealing, but the I like the first best.

I'd be curious about the tools you used to do this.

(no big deal about the name - I wonder if I should just take that out anyway!)

I liked the first one as best also
I do transparency overlay digital art photography
which is a combo of layers effect crop shadow light dark
they are photos imposed on layers of another- I have many many special effect photos I use for all purposes it is a very creative way to use photography which really suits me-
some overlays I spend an hour or more on some come together faster-
I thought your work needed a simple process because of its stark beauty-
