Thought maybe the waning moon might work in some sort of found composition while wandering aimlessly in the Illinois River Valley this morning. The large elevators in small town Utica, Illinois had some potential until I noticed the shadow of the grain dryer skipping across the surface of the elevators behind it. Decided then that the moon could wait for another day.

The switch to daylight savings time last night sure makes it easier to arrive somewhere before the sun rises.

Tom,

I always like the fine drawing shadows make from ladders, stairs and pipes on industrial walls. It provides a means of translating the complex into one message.

Magnificent! But Tom, might you also explore if one can also capture the shadows coming from the church too. We have spiritual life and the marvels on the tool making of man side by side.

Great pov including the church spire, the grain dryer and the elevators. They range from high to steadily higher and the shadow makes it complete. Thanks for sharing Tom.

PS: do you already have the DST over there? We switch to it on the 25th of March.

Asher, that's a good idea about the shadows of the church, thanks. The spire is about 300 feet away from the grain elevators, so its shadow will involve houses in the surrounding residential neighborhood.

Cem, thanks for looking. Yes, the US jumped into DST last weekend. We used to switch a bit later than this, but it was moved ahead some years ago for some reason or other—the details escape me now. By the way, I used the 90mm TS-E T/S at almost full shift upward to keep the 5DMKII body plumb to the world. Setting up the shot took a bit of time, and I'm sure the local folks passing by on their way to church wondered what I was up to.
