Just starting to explore the world of architectural shooting...I was struck by how this entryway resembled the entrances found around the pyramids in Eqypt.

I like the idea and the approach of the subject.
There is one thing which leaves me a bit puzzled - this is an entrance, but the picture does not show the floor part - is there a way in or not?

What is the intention of this composition?

Best regards,
Michael

Chris, Narrow stone passageways are a hallmark of many defensive fortifications though out history. Likely, this sense is evoked just by glancing at your picture. If one has actually visited and walked through the Zimbabwe ruins or the remnants of the many layers of the famous city of Troy, in ancient Greece, (now western Turkey), or if one is familiar with the steel sculpture of Richard Serra, then one has behind one's mind a fabric of ideas which really easily support the idea that this is an entrance to a very great and humbling experience.

I like your reference to ancient Egypt. they were master craftsman in building massive passageways and fortifications. In fact, this is an excuse to learn of the greatest of secret passages, the entrance to Rameses the third's treasure house!
