I recently photographed the shadows of a fern on the blinds of my bedroom window. Your picture gives me that sense of prehistoric history. BTW, I looked for some building or monument in the distance, however small, as we've been used to see such treats in previous pictures with bold foregrounds recently.

I love the composition of this image. It is so interesting and feels so balanced. Everything just seems to be where it should be. Also interesting to me, is although this is in b/w, it conjures up images in my brain of paintings by Rousseau and also, although I don't know why, paintings of Tahitian girls by Gauguin. Somehow the feelings I get from this, seem to relate to the feelings I get from those. Wonderful!

Maggie, I like what you said about the arrangement of the palms, I don't think I could have placed them any better with my...'palms'. Anyway, i've made a little aesthetic sense to all that natural chaos I think. Thanks, Maggie...

Hey Asher, ferns and palms are always great subjects to photograph, even a single one alone. In getting this shot I was roaming around outside for a shot of some palms resting up against the window, what with all that condensation on offer, but to no avail. I'm more than happy with this shot, even without any architecture involved.

Thanks Sam, I think I got a nice amount of variation in the palms with this shot, especially with the tiny leaves top left. I think that if you took them away the shot would be found wanting I guess.

Restrained and abundant at the same time. Excellent and balanced composition. Graphic shapes enhanced by the choice of the monochrome treatment.

Yeah, they do allow picnic baskets because as a matter of fact me and my lovely Samantha picked up some red wine, bread, cheese, figs and ham from Borough Market and had a picnic ourselves. Funny you should mention it...
