My World: A non-controversial story..The Mekong!!

How far to the Thai border?, I asked. 2 days go, 2 days come.

Let's go, I said. My friend and guide asked if we join a group.

Let's travel alone, I said. Big boat, he said. We can stretch, I said.

So this is a simple and short story about a 4 days journey on the Mekong. More about the boat, the river,
and the family who lives, sleeps, cooks, travels, and runs a taxi-service on the boat.

4 people in all. The boat owner and his wife. My guide. And me, your friendly next door neighbor.

Take it away captain!! The flag was hoisted and we were off.

Thanks Asher.

Yes,we did have to load up some supplies. Fish..they said would be fresh!

I have to tread very carefully around OPF waters, so as not to be seen as being insensitive to one or the other.

So, as I said it was a big boat. All mod cons. But no VHF or UHF. Not many, actually no navigational aids. Why? Only two ways to go. Up stream or down.

Beacons..why?

At night one can hear the crickets and the engine, I was told.

Life jackets? Yes. But it isn't the rainy season; and all were good swimmers around here.

Hold on...what do we have here?

Sorry to interrupt. Let me have a look.

As it happened, honestly. Right now, as I was posting this.

This time of the year, is the mating season for the birds around here. I see them in the ledges of my house. Over the years, I have begun to recognize a few sounds. Guess the offspring chirping, calling to their parents for food or as a beacon. And the parents too..maybe to reassure the young ones..communicating with each other.

The sounds suddenly were different. Let me go and see.
Now, I see.

I overlooked it a little while ago. Somehow this one fell from the ledge. I think it is dead.
What do you think?

Do you think, it's parents feel sad? Not a highly evolved or intelligent specifies as us. Only we can feel
pain and suffering...collateral damage. Should not be on the ledge in the first place.

Let me throw it in the garbage bin outside. Don't want my little girl to see this. Might upset her.

Btw, do you think color would suit this better?

Maybe over sharpened a bit?
Let me wash my hands.

There, back to our story of my vacation.
Sorry for the distraction.

The boat, yes. The important journey along the Mekong.

I was going to suggest you may have over-sharpened these a bit. Seeing a lot of haloing. Have you ever used LAB sharpening? Leaves no discernible haloing and gives a good crisp feel.

Chris, thanks for the suggestion. I have dabbled with LAB on and and off, but mostly I do it with the
seat of my pants.

My thanks and best wishes.

This is just a water level marker. As can be seen, the water level is very low right now.
But come rainy season, and...
