I followed this guy through this bush for about 10 minutes as he hopped from branch to branch, finally alighting here and holding a "pointer" pose. What this shot work best, I think, is the way the feeder vine curves the profile of the mockingbird. Partly dumb luck, mostly perserverance. I am learning patience.

Thanks! This is my very first view of a mockingbird. I know that Carly Simon with James Taylor sung a brilliantly silly beautiful song about the "Mockingbird" and Charles Darwin discovering the variation in different locations, realized that species were not immutable and hence that triggered his ideas of Darwin and mockingbirds

This was his first recorded expression of his doubts about species being immutable, which led to him being convinced about the transmutation of species and hence evolution. (It should be remembered that Lucretius had thought of all that 2 thousand years back!)

To highlight the bird itself, I'd suggest making the leaves that mark the curve in the branch be sharp but the rest of the branch subdued and the same with the foliage below it.
