But they are not to be underestimated when they have young ones in the nest.
The recipe for successful wildlife images, is to gain an understanding of the species and how they interact with their biotope. A long lens also helps
I've spent several of my younger years in a place in the forests, and one learns to read the signs and traces that animals leave behind. Since they also follow certain proven to be successful paths to get food, it becomes easier to encounter them (with a relatively high probability), and observe and photograph them. Then a bit of luck will allow to 'shoot' them in a favourable pose.
