I'm being followed. If I turn quickly I can catch him by surprise. I've seen him before in the crowd. Hiding behind the darkness. He pretends to be elsewhere, but I know. Shifty, like a shadow. Knowing who I am without reciprocating. My guilt is creeping up on me. I need to say something. Or run and hide from the eyes I can't see. Deep crevasses with a glint of light. He's everywhere. What does he want? What have I done? what does he know? He's a dead man walking. So am I.

Jim,

Nah! I don't think this guy is the "Grim Reaper" or any other threat to me, especially if he hasn't noticed me and is on the other side of the street! In Los Angeles, the "hoodie" like this is so common, akin to wearing dark glasses, but this disguise costs much less. It appears more in lower income neighborhoods. In isolation, it's just style and no big deal. If, however, 3 guys like this storm into into a liquor store and divide the territory, then it's different: drop to the ground, or escape through the back door, as there's a robbery going down!

Thank you for your interpretation of this image Gentlemen!

In some neighborhoods the photographer can get a broken nose and a busted camera all at the same time if you are not careful- especially if you are photographing a group together. It is best to get permission in case there is someone who does not want to be in the photo.

That's how I look when I go to the UK in winter. I've been followed by security guards and little old ladies cross the street when they see me approach. Whats this lower income neighbourhood stuff? Its called Dressing Down among the neuvo-riche

I suppose it all depends on what kind of a neighborhood your in.

I am not sure I understand your question can you elaborate?

I meant that the picture uses a different language than the street pictures you normally take. This does not only come from the fact that we do not see the model's face, but also from the particular rendering due to low shutter speed shake, use of limited depth of field, low contrast and bold composition with the empty room and the two black frames.

Yet, all this works beautifully together to give a somewhat surrealistic atmosphere to the final picture.

So the question is whether you could do more of the same. More pictures with a puzzling subject and a surrealistic atmosphere. It does not have to be only people hiding their faces under their hoodies, of course.

Thank you for your kind comments and clarification. You have some good ideas defiantly worth entertaining. I usually shoot in a rather spontaneous manner when I see something I want to photograph without any preconceived notions especially in the street.
