This reminds me of Norman Rockwell's ability to see every day relationships and behaviors in such a strong and wonderful way that we look at the simple image and just want to hug everyone it!

I'd rather think it's a pub. For an Irish wake one would expect a few guys with bruises and a little blood and a few kids dressed in black suits a tad too large for them with the cuffs tucked in!

Asher's right, James, it's a pub. Not just any pub but the Anchor Bar and Grill, a hole-in-the-wall famous across the midwest for 21 varieties of hamburger, with premium beer $3.50 for a 2-pint glass - good value even with the devalued Canadian dollar. The photo aimed at a fuzzy, feel-good glow to match the mood of the night. Had my Newfoundland Irish buddies been there, the whole place would have been whooping, hollering and dancing a jig. Ah yes! "Closing Time" is just right for such nights but came out too late for my younger years. Cohen's version of his song "Suzanne" was what we listened to then, with the earliest recording by Stormy Clovers, a long forgotten Canadian folk group. Cheers, Mike.
