Hi,
In the 30ies of the last century many Bauhaus (inspired) architects from Germany emigrated to Israel.
The booming city of Tel Aviv gave them the possibility to do their buildings all over the town.
Today, due to time and less money, the decay of the Bauhaus Architecture, called "White City" in Tel Aviv is intensively obvious. But the idea because of its relevance and effectivity infiltrated daily (architectural) life and can still be found in numerous places and varieties.

yep that's the fascinating thing about Bauhaus: it was global, useful and basic and is really a kind of natural constructing.

Unfortunately, my house was designed by a fellow influenced by both Bauhaus and Frank Lloyd Wright. So the entire building leaked. Took years to undo such a lot a rebuild it!

luckily my wife's father was only just influenced by Bauhaus and did a very good job in 1964 - our house is after 50 years still a gem and timeless useable ))

So fortunate, Wolfgang!

The trademark of Frank Lloyd Wright and his imaginative followers is the commonality of leaking roofs. Ours was in that top pedigree and the owner, the architect moved out and the bank foreclosed and was despairing as to have to knock down this beautiful but leaking-everywhere house!

I took it on for a bargain price and saved the house from demolition and in the process learned a lot about rebuilding the structure.

The challenge was to do so without taking apart a classic kitchen, (since a year replaced after a flood from a broken dishwasher) but all the repairs I did without either moving out or getting a contractor. I designed everything myself and hired my own workmen and made my own errors in the process, but now it's all pretty wonderful.
