Hello from Japan

Its nice to find a good forum. My name is Barry and I live with my wife in Japan. I have used an old Minolta 35 mm for about 10 years and recently changed to digital after meeting my wife. I am interested in most types of photography and currently I admire two photographers. Ume Kayo because she seems to capture feeling and Naoki Honjo as his photos look like models.

Nice to meet everyone!

I have no photographic direction. I keep thinking I should make a project to help wih that but can never come up with ideas so I just like to photograph anything that catches my eye. Personally I have an old Minolta X300 SLR with something like a 28-70mm lens though I cant recall exactly. Also a D40 with 17-55 and 55-200mm kit lens. Finally a Holga.

Minolta to D40 to Holga! Seems like a direction to me! You like the imperfection, the incomplete that makes you stop, fumble and see what's around you in this world.

How else would you end up in an exotic culture where no one speaks English, manners are as sharp as Samurai swords and your camera is like the eye of a drunk seeing through happenstance?

Barry, you have your direction. Just make the pictures with your Holga and lets see the happenstance.

Asher
