Max voltage on 30d

I've heard (key word: heard) various reports on the maximum voltage that a 30D can safely withstand when using off-camera strobes with a PC sync cord. I've got a sunpak 120 J whose output has been measured at anywhere from 10-11.5 V. I'm powering it with a Quantum Turbo, if that makes a difference.

So - Is this safe to sync with my 30d? Specifically, if anyone has links to actual published data/limits by Canon, that would be particularly helpful.

In this article Chuck Westfall says 250v for 20d and 1d bodies.. So where I saw the xt is also 250v.. Maybe you could write him an email to clear it up... 11v isn't much.. it's that 250v to 400v that will get you.....

My understanding IIRC (If I Remember Correctly, keyword understanding if is that the allowable flash sync voltage for the 20D, 30D, XT/350D, and other newer Canon bodies is 250 volts.

So you should be safe.

Nonetheless, I would test the flash with a multimeter to see what voltage it harbors across the leads when you have it attached to the battery pack (checking for non-standard behavior).

And as always you can buy Wein Safe-Sync or similar product to ensure your voltage requirements are met.
