Hello George, I haven't been around in a while but I still have those fine images of yours burning deep into my memory !!

I need to ask you a quick few questions if I may ??

congratz on your business loan !! I share your excitement but truth is.. I have never been drunk in my life. Not even once. (chuckle).

I have a huge new photo opportunity here in Barrow and I need some advice that I know your well experienced in.

How do you mount your large photographs ? May I ask ? do you have some one do it for you ? ( I doubt that )

Canvas Prints (large prints) what is an acceptable method of accomplishing this task at home ?

thanks in advance.!!!

So good to hear from you David!

How is everyone in Point Hope? Life is so much easier where we all hang out here!

I have a huge new photo opportunity here in Barrow and I need some advice that I know your well experienced in.

Please understand David, I am totally new to all that, you overestimate me!

However, as for the final presentation, I trust in this company to supply the quality I aim for....

Have a look:

Well... howdy howdy Georg !

I have been reading the thread(s) in the printing section and I am all hyped up about purchasing a large wide format printer. As much as I want to purchase the new Epson 64" I cannot justfity that size.. It is not the price that I am worried about, it is the size of that image, Whew !!

44" seems the way to go for me the Epson 9880. I have numerous schools here in Barrow to decorate.

We moved out of Point Hope last August - up to Barrow ! what an ordeal that was. but we are all settled in quite comfortably now. I have a huge house 12 rooms 5 bedrooms for 1k per month. When we first arrived here, we had no place to stay, no money, per say we were flat broke when we got off that plane. But .. we had Ivory bracelets and bone masks and ear-rings. and we became an instant success in this village of 5,000 people.

My idea is to put these huge prints on plywood and cover them with plexi-glass and place in the many gymnasiums ? Just an idea presently but the mayor for the City of Barrow is having us design an e-commerce site for ALL villages and ALL artists in the entire North Slope Borough region which is vast ! Inupiat Arts & Crafts of everything imaginable is about to go on line shortly, I have the stor up and working in demo mode. Still trying to purchase all the necessary certificates to make people comfortable and assured that this is all legitimate.

I am just curious how to bond the image (canvas) to the material used be it thin plywood or matting or such. I am totally clueless as to where to begin.

I guess I need to watch 6 hours of that video to get info on what is involved to print something that large. I did once have a 40 x 60 printed up of the old native couple (Aapa & Aaka) it was a masterpiece,

I guess I have tons of questions about this upcoming purchase, I can wait to hear your experiences with your new printer..

Again, congratz on your new business loan..!!

As I said before David, I have ZERO practical experience in this discipline at all!

I can not tell you about best practise in terms of mounting LF prints, be it canvas whatsoever.

44" seems the way to go for me the Epson 9880.

You might want to compare that with the Z3100 as well.

P.S.
How do you people cope there at the moment with "policy makers" and their "goodies"?

Looks to me as if they are getting more ruthless than ever beofre, I might be wrong of course!

No Georg your not wrong about that part. It is getting more and more ruthless by the hour.

the polar bear was recently put on the endangered species list.

This is pure bull.. the populations are thriving in record numbers. Now we are not allowed to hunt ducks. the walrus and seal will be put on that list shortly.. We have no food !! What are the Eskimo's going to do?? How will this culture survive, It is not the animals that are in any danger what so ever. It is these people that are about to loose everything. This culture must never perish !!

This is all an assumption that IF all the ocean ice melts, then the polar bear would be in great danger with no ice to hunt from. Wowow.. How do all these polar bears that are entrapped in zoo's around the world, how do they survive for decades with no ice ??

The polar bear can adapt to any surroundings ! We do not hunt polar bears, but walrus and seals and caribou are our main foods BECAUSE WE CANNOT HUNT bowhead whales, even though the population is in record numbers, the 900 residents of Point Hope received two small whales this year. that is enough food for about two months time that must be used very sparingly to make it last for one year. That is like trying to make one turkey last a year in your home.

Time will tell but the State of Alaska and other agencies with like values are protesting this and taking into court for litigation. If the ocean ice all melts we will be flodded ! That is absurd ! I recall one notable scientist who said. take a glass and fill it with ice, now fill the glass with water.. Let all that ice melt.. does the glass over flow ? No !!
