A self portrait done with a lovely old Darlot petzval. I hung a pencil from the ceiling exactly where my eye should be. When I was set I pulled the pencil down and squeezed the bulb on the Century 10a 8X10.

Hi Jim,

That is a very good self-portrait. And the equipment, although I don't know of it, seems to
be in right order.

Take care.

A lovely self portrait.

Ah, the Century Studio 10A - a lovely thing. We have one on exhibit (we don't shoot it).

When we moved from Dallas to Weatherford, Texas, we got rid of (or just tucked away) most of our collection of vintage LF cameras, but the 10A is so nice we have it in a place of honor.

Best regards,

Doug

Well, I'd rather show the 37 year old image of me with my friend's father's borrowed Yashica 35 mm camera I used for my first photography class on the way to go camping with the Explorer Scout Troop but I'd have to dig in the garage for it and then scan it. It was B&W. Oh to be 15 and know what I know now!

Kathy, you shall always be 15 for us, because that is how you look.

Thanks for posting.

Here's Mine

This was taken by a waitress in the Boston North End who wanted to try out my camera. My editor likes it so much she wants to use it as a book jacket photo.

Here is a candid portrait of mine taken by an excellent portraiture and wedding photographer friend of ours. The lady in the background happens to be my lovely wife. That's why she wasn't cloned out, LOL.

This is me at one of my favorite places, the Glenwood Cemetery in Houston. I have made countless trips to this site trying to capture this beautiful tree in just the right way. So far I am not satisfied and will just have to keep trying. On this day I was just fooling around, setting my auto timer and then scurrying over to try and sit down and look somewhat normal before the shutter fired. As you can see, I was not too successful at that either but it was still a fun exercise.
