Thanks for such a remarkable image and also the link to the rest of the series. I must admit, I knew it was a musical instrument but thought it was a guitar with the top removed for repair. So there's ambiguity. I don't know whether one defines this as abstract. It's certainly interesting and captures my attention, following the wavy lines of the instrument's side panel. It does extend beyond being part of an instrument to reflect more of the substance of the natural world, an interplay with the curved laminate of the edge and the flat more native surface of the board. There's a formal sense of movement. This might be best for final showing as one of a triptych, perhaps.

After seeing the initial pictures, he decided he wanted something more conventional, so I switched to a gray background and a more "catalog" style of lighting.
