I joined the OPF last year but never got round to introducing myself properly. I love the site and visit it when I get a chance. One of my 2009 resolutions is to be more proactive in the OPF, particularly uploading Images for critique - if I can master the initial attempts via Flickr.
Originally from Ireland but now living in France (sometimes) and working in Europe and Asia on occasions. I enjoy the cameraderie of the OPF and the good manners that people have towards each other (which is badly missing on a number of other Photography sites). My own website is as follows [URL="http://www.othersidephotography.com/"[/URL]

and is also a feature of my 2009 list of resolutions. Best wishes to all in 2009.

Hi Noel

the correct tags for your website url is url

http://www.othersidephotography.com
or easier, use
createlink.gif
on top of message box to paste your url and the tags will be automatically correctly set…

I took the liberty to edit your post to delete your email address, otherwise you will receive soon tome billions of spam. If I may give my advice, never put your email address in clear, anywhere online…

Hey! Flicker folks!

Hi Flicker folks
Can you help Noel on how to grab the correct url to paste here (using
insertimage.gif
to get the right tags). So the image will show in OPF…

We want to see Noel's images! Thanks !

Cool!
this is his website home image:

Noel, why dont you use your web space to drop your images you want to see here?
Make a special folder (aka OPF_images) and it will be much easier than Flicker to grab the url!

The url should look as : othersidephotography.com/OPF_images/my_beautifull_image.jpg

many thanks

Hello Nicolas

many thanks for all you assistance with this uploading issue. I just hope I can sort it out. I abandoned it last year but will persevere. Thanks also for removing my email .. I thought it might have been some form of obligatory thing when introducing oneself to the OPF members.

I will talk to my website Manager today and see what he proposes about using my own WWW.

Thanks again

Noel

Well as you send me an email with the bad news that "Portfolio websites" does not allow this, you'll have to deal with Flicker…

I'll create a special post for this… We must be able to find the solution so you may easily post images in OPF!

Kind regards

I went on the FAQ page of Flickr and find this:

How do I get the URL of a photo?

To use the URL of a photo (like when you add a photo to your Blogger profile), you must provide the web address (URL) of the image itself, not the address of the web page where the image is displayed.

Here's an example of a correct URL for a photo. Note the .jpg at the end:

Here's an example of an incorrect URL for a photo. It points to the web page where the image is displayed, not the image file itself. Notice there's no .jpg at the end.

(Click both of these links to see the difference.)

To get the URL of the actual image file, find the photo you want to use. Click the "All Sizes" button above it and select the size you want. If the photo is yours, two text fields appear below the photo. The first contains a snippet of HTML that will produce the photo on your web site, with a link back to the photo page on Flickr. The second contains the URL of the image itself. Simply copy and paste the one you want into your web site.

If the photo isn't yours, you may not be able to access the Different Sizes page (if the owner doesn't allow downloads of the photo).

Note: Per our Terms of Use, whenever you place an image you're storing on Flickr on an external web site, you must also include a link back to Flickr.

The ball is in your camp now!
