Since I am still learning and want to keep on trying the achieve the best possible shots I can, I have posted these here for some critique. This was a shoot with Kirsty in my studio, which I am currently renovating. All comments and crit are most welcome.

I like the lighting on the face (but wonder if others think there needs to be any fill light on eyes)? How did you light her? The quality of the skin is wonderful.

H Rachel.....thanks for taking a peek. The first shot was with just a beauty dish, and the second was also with the beauty dish, but I took the shot with only the modeling light on, so the flash did not fire, which was done on purpose as well. I am kinda lighting the more continous lighting, but the shutter speeds are really low.

Johan,

You have done a good job with Kirsty and she with you! I love her great attitude which she shows in the pursed armature of her lips. (Ken, that's my feelng, LOL). I wonder what she's like in person? Who does the make up and do you know what foundation and powder is used?

Could we see a pair of shots with the modeling light and then with the strobe? With the first, perhaps the light is softer as the source is already more diffuse. You would have to keep the aperture constant!

Could you share the lens details and the ISO?

Small niggle on the hair/shadow in the first one on her neck.

The lighting is beautiful!

Thanks for the comments Asher, much appreciated.

Kirsty is a lovely young lady, actually to sweet to be a model LOL. As far as the makeup goes, they call is "MAC" i think, but Stavvie (makeup artist) did say to me she uses many different brands. I purchased some makeup for my studio called Trucco Sebastian, which is feel works rather well....other than that I am stupid when it come to makeup related goodies......hehehe

I will post some more images soon, but for the mean time the camera was a 1dsmkii

Image 1 :
Lens : 135mm F2
ISO: 50
Focal Length: 135 mm
Shutter : 160
Fstop : F9

Image 2 :
Lens : 135mm F2
ISO: 200
Focal Length: 135mm
Shutter : 50
Fstop : F2

Hope that sheds some light on my thoughts.

I unfortunatly do not have any shot within a sequence which show the strobe firing and only the modeling light shots. Here are some more modeling lighting only shots, but this time not converter into black and white.

The first one of this second series is my favorite. In the second of each series, her shoulder looks a bit uncomfortable. Maybe a bit less light on it would work better.

This is my favorite too! Very rich!

BTW, what's the camera, MF or 35mm DSLR?

Thanks again folks for the comments. The camera is a Canon 1DsMKII Asher. I am still very happy with the camera. I found that the images from the 1DsMKIII look a little "pasty" to my liking. The only thing I can think of that makes it look that way to me is that anti ailising (SP?) filter, which is rather strong on the camera as far as I am aware. I still want to try the 5DMKII and see how well that performs. High ISO levels and lack of noise on there should be great for the continuos lighting I think.
