Hello,

I stumbled on the site/forums while Googling around looking to see if I can re-use my Canon lenses on a Nikon. Apparently I can't. :(

I've been researching on upgrading from my Canon Digital Rebel (yes, the old 6mp one) to a newer Digital SLR. I've been looking at the Nikon D90, but then I don't like the idea of having to re-buy my lenses for the Nikon, so have been looking at Canons as well. And I'm not so sure I would use the video function on the D90 as I have my little Point and Shoot Olympus that can do that just fine.

Still up in the air on which way to go.

I'm not a very good photographer (at least I think so), but I'm trying to learn better techniques.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to OPF. You'll find this a friendly place. Still we are practical. So for your new camera, the first thing is to do is to share your

  • Photography subjects
  • Hopes
  • Best Photos to date
  • What do you find is missing from the 6MP digital Rebel to meet your needs?
  • Lenses you own right now?

My own guess is that this camera might not, perhaps, block your path at this time. Three exceptions would be important: you have a great wide angle lens you want to to use for a wider view , you have to deliver a print larger than 8x10 or else you want to photograph in dim light.

With your answers, the folks here can give you the best suggestions to get on the right track. Guard you money for now!
