Porcupines today -

One baby is born per year. Yes, babies are born with quills, but the quills are soft during delivery and harden in less than an hour.

Today while looking for Rattlesnakes, We were walking by a big hole in the rocks. As we passed, we heard some grunting coming from inside the hole.
We sat down for a while and then all of the sudden – a large porcupine walked by. Then another adult walked by (both inside the hole – but passing by the entrance).
Eventually, one went back in (deep) and the other came to the entrance. About an hour later, this little guy wobbled to the entrance. It was really neat,
I don’t think I have ever seen one before!
 
This is really cool - have never seen a porcupine in the wild. I know you've said this before, but where are you located? Looks like you're making good use of your time in the field!
