Louisiana Rain

Louisiana rain!

Shot 1/2 a year ago with my Zeiss 6x9 folder camera. I like the camera, but I hate developing roll film! Just now dropped it off to the lab (since I had some other roll film stuff to develop) instead of developing it myself. Sheet film is more fun to develop :D

I've got another shot (these were taken when it just started raining) where the yard starts to pool up with water! Will scan that later.

Our of habit, Daniel, one would think that a major line, (that dangling power of TV cable), would ruin a picture. However, here, of interest, IMHO, it makes them both.

A line descending brings us down too. This is coincident with the mist clinging to the scene and make the picture the have the heavy presence of a the humidity in that location. Creating this feeling on one glance is highly effective and satisfying. I feel that you are showing me a real place where I already can sense much more life all around me almost as if there were dimensions of sounds and smell, as there are, but evoked from my own experience.

In the first photograph, what are the various structures. One seems to be a tiny windmill? Are the others bird houses or what?

Yes, there's a little windmill, a small well, some bird houses, bird baths, and some bird feeders in that little "island" over there :) Next time I go home, I'm going to probably shoot some of them :)

I agree about the power cable, I'd rather that not be there!

The second image is my favorite, Daniel. I can hear the rain fall and smell the wet forest, That dangling line doesn't "make" the image for me but it doesn't ruin it, either. It suggests connection of this site to the rest of the world. The only unfortunate aspect of it is that it's nearly parallel to a distant tree branch and thus forms a slightly distracting parallelogram figure in this upper right corner.

Nice work, particularly with that Zeiss folder.
