Jamie this is absolutely wonderful with the blurred grasses all around him/her, beautifully alert/curious expression looks as though he's listening to something with one ear slightly rotated, beautiful, the tall upright grasses contribute a lot to the scene framing the fox within them, thank you for showing us this......

Agreed - this is a wonderful image. Pleasing colors, excellent pose, balancec composition.

My only suggestion would be to tweak the tonality some, to really bring out the beauty of this capture. Overall it's fairly dark (the histogram will verify this). I played with it some in Photoshop, adjusting levels and Shadows, and it really came to life.

Just beautiful!

I'm a real fan of dark - please post what you did though, I'd really like to see what you were able to do!

Here's a quick and dirty edit, showing the original with histogram, and the edited version, with its histogram:

On my (calibrated) monitor, the 2nd version has more 'life'. The histograms show the change in distribution in tonality - in the original, almost all of the tonality is below the mid-point. The gaps in the histogram in the edited version arise from working with an 8-bit Jpeg, low-res image, and wouldn't be there if I started with the original Raw file.

Your thoughts?
